and now....

The SlabTek Slab Design

SLABTEK SLABS is totally unique and is designed to require no special soil treatment, requires less construction time, is not labor intensive, maintains strict quality control, is economical to build, and provides for future adjustment.

Some of the many unique engineering features of

SLABTEK SLABS, are:

They make use of either drilled concrete piers or “helical” type piers, to carry the load of the structure below the active zone to the structurally stable soils beneath the surface. However, they require approximately 40% less piers than traditional slabs.

They are designed, in engineering terms, as a “flat plate”, approximately 5” thick. The slabs have no interior or stiffener beams, like traditional “waffle slabs”, only a shallow beam around the perimeter. As a result, they require approximately 40% less concrete.

They make innovative and economical use of post-tension design reinforcement. The post-tension cables are “profiled” or draped up or down within the slab to place the reinforcement where it is most needed.

They are poured on top of the ground and then raised above the ground to a desired height, with patent pending SlabTek lifting mechanisms (Slabtek LM). Using the ground as a form is a very economical process, much like commercial tilt-wall construction.

They use the same lifting mechanisms used to lift the slab, to adjust the height of the slab in the future. If, this is ever required.

Millions of dollars are spent annually trying to design for and anticipate soil movement under concrete foundations, and millions more are spent to repair damaged foundations. An innovative and revolutionary foundation design was needed to not only address the initial cost of construction but also long term performance and adjustability.

Innovation was the catalyst and driving force behind the SLABTEK SLAB, creating a cost effective foundation system that effectively eliminates foundation movement.
